一般的 web server 若執行 on-demand 影片時, 使用方式是走 http progressive download, 若是要使用可以 fast seek 的話, 必須使用 flash media server, 不過這裡有個 Pseudostreaming 的 streaming plugin 給一般的 web server 使用. 配合這個 flowplayer 可以利用指定起始位置的方式, 配合 http header 的指令, 來達成 fast seek 的效果.
